Welcome to the web-site hosted by the Canoe Sailing Committee of Finnish Canoe Federation. Our aim is to offer you all the information you need to visit Finland or start or strength this great sport in your homeland.
Mr. Hjelt from Canoe Club of Helsinki, sailing smoothly with “Pojan” in Toolo Bay of Helsinki summer 1926. This sailing canoe is desinged by Carl Smith. The model is Swedish “Helsa” from 1881.
The Canoe Sailing Committee of Finnish Canoe Federation is established again in 1994 - after 60 years silence. Canoe Sailing is one of the eldest form of canoeing in Finland, as well as in Far East and in North America. Since 1880 there has been sailing canoes in Finland. Most active years were in 1930’s before the Second World War. There were tens of sailing canoes in some clubs in Viborg and in Helsinki. Now we are waking up this great sport and raising our canoe sailing activities to the level they should be because of our honour traditions.
